Description of the meeting
The present workshop project aims to contribute different points of view regarding the problems that the incorporation of artificial intelligence may cause for all involved: parties to a civil dispute, defendants in a criminal trial, lawyers, and judges. Also in the way that the justice system is perceived by the citizens. This range of perspectives is crucial to address a theoretical framework that can respond to the pressure exerted by this new reality on the administration of justice, and also to respond to the new challenges we face with the irruption of new artificial intelligence technologies in the field of justice.
AI technologies are a cross-border and globalized reality that does not understand geo-graphical barriers. Therefore, a good knowledge of this issue is of vital importance to face the challenges that arise not only in the field of the administration of justice, but also in the field of law and justice itself.
To this extend, the workshop will bring together a diverse group of world leading scholars committed to finding sustainable solutions in this area through the develop-ment and application of new ways of thinking. There are 20 confirmed participants, bringing perspectives from the Basque Country, Spain, England, Wales, Scotland, Italy, USA, Colombia and Chile, bringing different points of view from diverse legal cul-tures. This range of perspectives is crucial to address a theoretical framework that can respond to the pressure exerted by the media on the administration of justice, and also to respond to the new challenges we face with the irruption of new technologies in the field of justice.
