I received a Residence Grant in the International Institute for the Sociology of Law in Oñati to stay at the Institute’s residence for seven weeks and to use a library for my research.
During my research stay I searched for English-language literature from those areas of socio-legal research that within my scope of interest, which at that time was legal geography, application of complex system theories to law and legal professions.
Staying at the picturesque building of Institute residence gave me an opportunity to get into contact with other scholars and master students. It also gave me an irreplaceable opportunity to observe group dynamics and interpersonal tensions in relation to individuals academic and political perspectives.
Some of the contacts that I made during my Residence Grant resulted in fruitful discussions and promising perspectives of further cooperation: there are two initiatives that we already started discussing. I hope it will result in full realization of those ideas and, therefore, future development of my academic work.
Residence Grant was highly relevant for my academic interests. Ancient walls of the Institute’s building and marvelous, mountainous surroundings of Oñati created an unique atmosphere that helped me in many ways.
I would like to express my gratitude towards those who enabled me to stay at the International Institute for the Sociology of Law in Oñat and showed me support during that time. I would like to thank especially Professor Vincenzo Ferrari, Scientific Director of IISL and Malen Gordoa Mendizabal who helped me with all the difficulties I faced. I also want to say warm ‘thank you’ to all of those who I met in Oñati and to whom I can refer to as friends.
