Feldman-Savelsberg, Pamela

PAMELA FELDMAN-SAVELSBERG is the Broom Professor of Social Demography and Anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton College and Research Partner in the Otto-Hahn Research Group "Gender, Migration and Social Mobility" at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle. Her current research lies at the intersection of migration (including immigrant legal consciousness), reproduction, collective memory, the emotions of social class, and transformations of kinship obligations in Sub-Saharan Africa and in European African diasporas. She is the author of Plundered Kitchens, Empty Wombs: Threatened Reproduction and Identity in the Cameroon Grassfields (1999), and Mothers on the Move: Reproducing Belonging between Africa and Europe (2016). Her work on authoritarianism and reproductive rumors was featured in El País (2019).
